Slow Down To Speed Up: The Three Benefits of Meditation

are you running your life or is your
life running you I can tell you what happened to me and you need to slow down
so you could speed up I’m gonna teach you how to slow down so you can get more
done it doesn’t make any sense it was counterintuitive to me too but I’m
telling you it’s real you’ve got to believe me my name is renee teller I’m a
life strategist I love to help you ignite your life and get organized so
that you can live a spectacular life just like I do
so what I want to talk to you about is where I was some years back I would get
up every morning I would hit the ground running I worked in big business I had
my son I had a nanny life was crazy I never stopped what I did every day was
I got up I took orders I took orders from my boss I took orders at work I did
exactly what everybody wanted me to do my life was crazy it came to a
screeching crashing halt I lost my husband
I lost my beautiful life and I was starting over I don’t want that to
happen to you and I believe I know one big solution that will change everything
and it is meditation I want to share with you today three
benefits of meditation and why it’s so important it is so important to slow
down and start every morning getting your heart and your head in the right
place together the first thing I want to tell you is
that meditation will reduce stress and improve your health I am not kidding
I’ve spent the last 20 years I think I told you I was a CPA a finance person
and when my mom was diagnosed with cancer I left that world and I opened a
wellness center that was 20 years ago that I sprung into that field and I have
spent the last 20 years researching and understanding why my mom ended up with
two unrelated cancers one that took her life at the age 60
not acceptable and it doesn’t have to happen it was stress I’ve learned in the
last 20 years from working with amazing researchers and doctors that stress in
our life is the number one impediment to all health issues – cancer – heart
disease everything that you could possibly
encounter physically the stress in our life causes that so it’s important to
learn how to get rid of stress and one of the biggest single ways to do that is
to slow down and spend some time with yourself spend some time in the morning
that’s the best time before you get into your day before all those external
forces start bombarding you with issues demands questions – take some time for
yourself and actually premeditate things that are going to go on in the day if
you know you have a stressful business meeting slow down and think about it and
actually put the thoughts in your brain about how you’re gonna handle that
meeting or that negotiation or that conflict with a child you can actually
get the thoughts in your brain so that when that occurs you’re going to react
exactly the right way in a non-stress environment you know didn’t make sense
to me as a left brain person it didn’t make sense that stress that I couldn’t
touch and feel was actually affecting the cells and the molecules in my body
and it is absolutely scientifically proven so if you need to do your own
research you go right ahead but trust me when I say if you take time in the
morning to meditate and to be still it is going to significantly reduce the
stress in your life the second benefit I want to share with you about meditation
is it gets you into your creative space creative space I’m a left brain person I
don’t have much creative space we think analytically we think in numbers it’s
difficult but this is allowed me to be more creative I do have a right brain
whether I want to recognize it or not and when I sit still I can get into that
space you know my son is a songwriter singer he lives in New York City and he
teaches me a lot about this creative space he’ll say to me there’s only so
much creative juices to access at any given day why because our brains are
busy doing left brain kind of things whether it’s organizing or carrying out
duties taking care of kids taking care of stuff at work that’s not using our
creative space at all in order to get into that creative space you have to sit
still and allow thoughts of your past and your future to go away and really be
in the present so that your creative brain can get active how many times have
you heard about great authors of books what do they do they have a space that
they go to they go away to a retreat house or a space where it’s quiet
that is evidence then in order to get into our creative space and have that
peace of mind we need to put ourselves in that state of mind it’s a huge
benefit of meditation to be able to access the creative space and it’s a
great space to be it’s where all our fun and happiness and peace comes from and
here’s the third thing and I think it’s the most important and there’s a lot of
benefits of meditation I’m just sharing three big ones with you today the third
benefit is that I truly believe that it’s in that meditative state that you
can find your purpose for life your purpose for life not the purpose of life
and the purpose of living we look outside at external sources all the time
for what is the meaning of life why are we here we need to be still and look
inside and the only way to do that is to sit still it’s too
close your eyes and get into that meditative state that’s how I continue
to refine my purpose for living I believe my purpose for living right
now in these years is to share with you all these things I’ve learned oh my gosh
I wish someone convinced me years ago in my late 20s and early 30s the importance
of meditation the importance of sitting still and really getting into myself I
would have avoided a lot of pain and I would be able to have an even greater
impact on the world isn’t that what we all want aren’t we finding true peace
and happiness we are living for the purpose we were created for that exact
thing we were meant to be oh my gosh these years where I’ve been doing this
where I’ve been helping coaching mentoring people with their life that’s
amazing and I only found it by taking time to meditate every morning I’m Renee
